Democratic Republic of Congo President Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi attended an official dinner hosted by Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin on Wednesday, 28 October, as the third Russia-Africa Summit opened in Moscow.
The gathering brought together several African Heads of State and marked a major moment in relations between Moscow and the continent.
On Thursday, 29 October, Tshisekedi is due to address a plenary session at the Gostiny Dvor centre.
His speech will focus on prospects for strengthening cooperation between the DRC and the Russian Federation in areas considered strategic for both countries.
Kinshasa says the participation reflects its desire to consolidate international partnerships and defend the DRC’s interests on the world stage.
For Moscow, the summit is also a chance to deepen ties with Africa through concrete economic, political and human cooperation.
A one-on-one meeting between Tshisekedi and Putin is scheduled for Friday, 30 October.
The direct talks are expected to focus on bilateral priorities and explore new avenues for collaboration between the two states.
Through its active presence in Moscow, the DRC is asserting its place in major African and international diplomatic dynamics while seeking to promote its potential and strengthen strategic partnerships.
