Burkina Faso and the Republic of Türkiye have agreed to strengthen their partnership in several key sectors. This intention was expressed during the first session of political consultations between the two countries, held on Tuesday in Ankara, according to Burkina Faso’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Burkinabè delegation was led by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Hermann Yirigouin Toé. It held talks with a Turkish team led by Ambassador Volkan Isikci, Director General for West and Central Africa at the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The discussions focused on areas considered priorities for Burkina Faso’s development. Education, vocational and technical training, and health are among the areas in which both parties wish to intensify their collaboration.
Agricultural cooperation and livestock development were also at the center of the exchanges. These sectors are particularly important for food security, rural employment and the processing of local production in Burkina Faso.
The two countries also discussed investment opportunities in mining and energy. These areas could pave the way for industrial projects, skills transfers and a strengthening of the country’s productive capacity.
This first political consultation reflects the desire of Ankara and Ouagadougou to give an institutional framework to their bilateral relationship. It could encourage the emergence of concrete partnerships between companies, institutions and economic actors in both countries.
