The “Yere Ta” farm, managed by the Burkinabe Council of Agro-Pastoral and Fisheries Value Chains (CBF), hosted a high-level visit this weekend. The Minister of State for Agriculture, Water, Animal and Fisheries Resources, Commander Ismaël Sombié, went there to assess the progress of works related to the 2026–2027 agropastoral campaign.
On site, emphasis was placed on the site’s capacity to serve as a model for the rural world.
The operation is not limited to producing foodstuffs: it also seeks to test, demonstrate, and disseminate agricultural methods that could be adopted by producers across the country.
One of the farm’s most strategic aspects concerns seed production. Part of the land is reserved for cowpea and maize, two crops important for food and the rural economy.
The goal is to make reliable seeds available to farmers, capable of improving yields and reducing difficulties linked to access to inputs.
The farm also develops significant food-crop activity intended to support national food supply.
This production helps strengthen the availability of basic products on the market while illustrating the value of diversifying crops rather than depending on a single type of production.
Finally, the site devotes a notable area to tree cultivation, particularly cashew and mango. This orientation opens prospects beyond the sale of fresh fruit: local processing, creation of added value, and commercial outlets for actors in the relevant value chains.
