The city of Nyala, capital of South Darfur State, witnessed an unprecedented gathering today during the ‘Recovery Million March,’ organized entirely through grassroots popular efforts. This vibrant demonstration stood as a powerful testament to the community’s unyielding will to live, heal, and overcome the devastating scars of war, drawing massive participation from diverse segments of society, including youth, women, and civil active groups.
Addressing this grand event, the Prime Minister of the Peace Government, Mohamed Hassan the Al-Ta’ayshi, stood before a cheering crowd of citizens and youth leaders. In his opening remarks, he saluted the immense sacrifices and resilient spirit displayed by the people of Nyala and Sudan as a whole, while praising the extraordinary role of spontaneous popular initiatives in driving community recovery, self-reconstruction, and keeping essential markets and vital public facilities running against daunting odds.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the journey toward recovery and lasting stability begins with the free will of local communities. He reaffirmed the government’s steadfast commitment to backing every grassroots initiative that promotes security, improves humanitarian and health conditions, creates a conducive environment for the return of displaced persons and refugees, and revives the wheels of production and development.
This march unfolded precisely as Nyala experiences a rapid civic mobilization aimed at fostering social cohesion, supporting comprehensive stability, and rebuilding what the conflict destroyed.
