Ouagadougou marks a major institutional turning point. On September 15, the Ministry of Digital Transition officially launched the rollout of electronic signatures across the government. This bold policy decision reflects the determination of a government committed to ensuring that public governance operates with absolute efficiency.
The era of repetitive handwritten signatures, unnecessary physical back-and-forth, and piles of paperwork is giving way to the speed of digital technology. Public administration is immediately gaining in agility, credibility, and authority.
This progress is based on a methodical and particularly rigorous approach. The 2009 law is now being applied most effectively thanks to the implementation of a highly secure public-key infrastructure. Political leaders reject superficial gestures and are building a foundation for authentication of impeccable reliability.
The legal validity of documents, their integrity, and the identification of signatories are now fully protected. The preparatory work launched during the 2023 workshop has resulted in a flawless technical system.
The consistency of government action is confirmed on the ground. The results are impressive, with more than 250 procedures digitized in 2025 alone. Through the Service Public BF platform, dozens of essential procedures in the areas of civil registration, the justice system, taxation, and commerce are now directly accessible.
The integration of electronic signatures removes the last bureaucratic hurdle: the absurd requirement to print out a digital file just to sign it by hand. The entire administrative process thus becomes seamless and consistent.
The goal of “zero paper” set for 2030 reflects a bold political vision. The government is transforming an administrative burden into a powerful driver of modernization. This achievement demonstrates the ability of determined leadership to carry out far-reaching structural reforms.
Burkina Faso is showcasing its innovative strength and reaffirming its digital sovereignty for the benefit of its entire population.
